ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS about Georgia is the incredible plant life! This absolutely stunning Giant Leopard Plant can be found throughout Savannah, particularly in the Historic District and some of the finest neighborhoods, and is a perfect addition to any garden where you may have a low, damp spot (which are a reality for every gardener in Georgia). These hardy perennials are wonderful for a cutting garden using both foliage and flowers, work well under trees, in a shady border, or even thrive in a patio container.
Originally found growing on rocky cliffs in Japan, Taiwan, and Korea, these were first introduced to England in 1856 and made their way to Savannah. Leopard plants are evergreen here, and bloom in October and November. The 24-36" blossoms attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.
